Privacy Policy

This site is run by one person. It has no advertising and it does not sell, rent, or trade anyone's information. This page says plainly what happens to your information here.

If you only read the public pages and the free lessons, you are never asked for anything.

What is collected

Your email address, when you start a checkout or ask for a sign-in link. It is how your course stays yours and how your way in reaches you.

Your orders: which course, the amount paid, the date, and the ids Square gives the order and payment.

Your progress: which lessons you have marked done, and when. I can see this, because it tells me where men keep going and where they stop.

Nothing on this site asks for your postal address or your date of birth, and card numbers never reach this site.

Your IP address

Your IP address is read when you submit a form, only to count recent attempts from one place so the forms cannot be flooded. It is held in the server's memory, is not written to the database, and is discarded when the server restarts.

Like any website, this site is reached through a host and your internet provider, and those companies see your IP address as a normal part of delivering the page.

Who else handles it

It reaches four companies, each doing one job. Railway hosts the site and its database in the United States. Square takes your payment on its own checkout page, holds the card details, and tells this site whether the payment went through. Resend delivers the sign-in emails. Plausible counts visits to the site.

Beyond those, information would only ever be handed over if the law required it.

If a payment goes wrong, your email address can appear in the server's error log so I can find it and fix it.

Cookies

Plausible counts visits to this site: which pages were opened, which link sent you here, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and whether it was a phone or a desktop. It sets no cookie, records nothing you type, and does not identify you or follow you to other sites. There is no advertising and no other tracking script. This site sets its own cookies for only three jobs: one keeps you signed in, one remembers whether you chose the light or dark screens, and one keeps me signed in to the admin area, which only I ever receive.

How long it is kept

Order and account records are kept for as long as the course is yours and as long as the law requires for sales records. Unused sign-in links expire on their own.

Your rights

You can ask me what is held about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to [email protected] and say which. Deleting your account ends your access to your courses, and I may need to keep the record of a sale.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. If you write and tell me which right you are exercising, I will honour it.

Children

This site is written for adults, mostly for men. It is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent me something, write to me and I will delete it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and sign-in cookies cannot be read by scripts in the browser. Nobody can promise perfect security. What I can promise is that this site collects as little as it can get away with.

Changes

If what this site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. Questions go to [email protected].
